HEART WORK FOR 2023

As we look forward to next year you may be wondering where your tithing goes. We encourage you to stop in Monday - Friday between 9am and 1pm to see our Crossroads Day-Hab in full swing. They are here 5 days a week - 5.5 hours a day. They do pay a small fee each month however that doesn’t cover the daily costs of electricity and gas. But we value this time with them each day. Also there are times when we host the game afternoons for some that want to just come in and play board games or card games.

Have you ever wondered what that box is out in front of the church? That is our Blessing Box and is part of the Jubilee Committee. We offer personal hygiene items to folks in need as well as things most of us take for granted….toilet paper, laundry soap, dish soap, some occasional food items. During the sometimes-brutal Iowa winters we will put handwarmers and gloves/ mittens and hats in there. Your tithe helps us be able to help those less fortunate. Another area that the Jubilee Committee and your tithe help is with the L and M Locker. We also help them provide students with basic personal care items.

Our Laundry Love program helps close to 1,500 people have clean clothing during the year. That cost for that will not go down — it will continue to go up but we feel that as Trinity Church all humans deserve clean clothing. This is another way in which we help our community.

We donate to MCSA as well as their women’s domestic violence shelter. This past year we had a successful bake sale that raised money for the Jesus Mission.

The Church needs outreach, too. We’ve handed out popsicles at the 4th of July parade. During the Trunk or Treat we were able to hand out over 1200 bracelets that say “You are worthy”. So many people need that as a reminder — those are the people we are helping to form relationships with.

Nothing can get done without your help and we appreciate each and every one of you. We thank those of you who donate your time and talents as well as your tithe. A lot of hours are donated during coffee hour, the altar guild, bake sales, soup suppers. All of this takes 3 things: Time, talent and treasure. Thank you in advance for your pledge to help these ministries continue through 2024.

Heart Work for 2024

Continuing our current ministries is important. We also want to grow the ability of Trinity Episcopal of Muscatine to reach out to other people, including:

  • A Grief Support Group

  • A Mental Health Awareness Support Group

  • More Parish Life activities

  • Special Music

  • Online outreach and marketing

  • Supplying an AED machine for the church

How can we count on you to be part of our growing church?
